Windows Vista allows you to redirect a device through the Remote Desktop Connection. In the Remote Desktop Connection dialog box, you should click on the Options button. After that, you should switch to the Local Resources tab. You can choose the types of devices that you want to redirect in the Local Resources tab. If the computers which you connected are using Windows XP, you can perform copy and pasting files by redirecting the files on the drive. In order to copy and paste the files, you must login with the administrator account. Windows Vista allows you to redirect media players. The redirection of the media players is done through the Media Transfer Protocol and Picture Transfer Protocol.

In the Remote Desktop Connection, you should type in the name of the remote computer in the Computer field under General field. Under Display, you can determine the screen size of the remote desktop by dragging the full screen slider. You can change the colors settings of the remote desktop from the Colors drop down menu. Under Local Resources, you can customize the redirection of the sound system, keyboard, printers, and clipboard. To listen music from other computer, you should select Bring to this computer from the Remote Computer sound drop down menu.

Under Programs, you can initiate the connection of the program. In the Program path and file name field, you should enter the path of the program you want to connect. In the Start in the following folder field, you should enter the folder path where the connection will start. In the Experience field, you can customize the connection performance including desktop background, font smoothing, desktop composition, show contents of window while dragging, menu, window animation, themes, and bitmap caching. In the Advanced tab, you can select the Authentication options. After adjusting the settings, you should click on the Connect button.
